A selection test was administered in November 2019 (grade 9 learners) to select project learners. 628 learners participated in the test and 390 were selected. The table below gives a clear summary of the selection test participation and chosen project learners per circuit as well as the average performance of learners in the selection test. The selection test was made up of 3 categories being Verbal, Non-verbal and Numerical. The provincial average performance for Verbal was 8%, outcome for non-verbal was 7.7% and numerical was 7.1% with an overall average of 22%. Lobethal circuit had a slightly higher performance Sekgosese, with Mogodumo performing the lowest.

Funda Afrika is proud to announce a new and current partnership with IDC through the Tirisano Construction Fund to roll out a Learner and Teacher Support Programme in Limpopo province, with a specific focus on enhancing performance in Mathematics and Physical Sciences.

These subjects are usually poorly taught and performed at high school level due to historic imbalances of the system.The programme commenced in 2019 after a rigorous selection process on the then grade 9 learners from more than 23 schools, identifying them for the grade 10, 2020 intake for a period of three years within the rural and surrounding areas of the province, benefiting them all the way up to grade 12. The direct recipients of the project initiatives are from the following areas of Sekhukhuni, Lobethal Circuit, gaMaja, Mogodumo Circuit and Botlokwa, Sekgosese Circuit making up the entire beneficiary list. The project comprises of 23 schools from the stated three circuits and with a total of 390 learners. Non project schools falling under the project communal areas also benefit indirectly as they receive the quality resources and activities used during the project lessons via their teaching staff who are part of the LimpStep team.
