School Transformation and Empowerment Partnerships (STEP) GP

The MBSA 2024 cohort of learners’ overall average performance in the Gauteng MBSA Tshwane STEP project schools increased by a marginal 0,32% still lingering at 84,8% which is slightly less than both the Gauteng province and national average performances which are at 88,4% and 87,3% respectively.

This cohort of learners most of whom commenced high school during the onset of the covid-19 disruptive period, they were faced by greater challenges from attending school once a week. This in turn contributed to loss of learning and teaching time and the content gaps while several topics were removed from the Annual Teaching Plan (ATP) brought into effect by lock down regulations. Notwithstanding these conditions stakeholders and partners continued assistance to all levers of school function to avoid a lost academic generation of learners which would have burdened the state in the long run. Our learners and their peers have shown tremendous enthusiasm and passion to achieve against all odds, noting that our schools are no fee schools and cater for the needy in our communities.

The MBSA STEP in Gauteng, Tshwane produced and celebrate the schools according to grade 12 results, Saulridge Secondary School, 99,2%, Flavius Mareka Secondary School, 93,8%, Mapenane Secondary School, 90,4% are our top 3 performed above 90%. DH Peta Secondary School gained by only 2% to 88% and Modiri Secondary School as well continued an upward trajectory to 85,1% increasing by 3,6% both these schools remained strong at above 80%

Disappointingly Edward Phatudi Secondary School, dropped by 10,5% to 72%,. Hofmeyr Secondary School at 77,9% Phelindaba Secondary School was one of the schools that did not do well too with falling by at least 5,6% to 71,6%. These schools account for up the bottom three performing schools

In 2025, Funda Afrika via our projected stakeholder meetings, hopes on further collaboration with the local education District Officials including our supported schools participants to draft and draw up school specific approaches at subject and school level to able to set and meet the set target to increase their pass rates. The STEP programme intervention shall include not limited to our annual initiatives to trace weaknesses within the classrooms for the target achievement goals for 2025.

Funda Afrika with the backing from partners and stakeholders achieved the full rollout of all our MBSA initiatives in 2024. Saulridge Sec School achieved an extraordinary 99,2% as the schools in Tshwane are high performing schools, representing that standard well. This represents in essence the top performing school among all our supported schools.
