Information
UBS supports Cosmo, Lanseria, and Diepsloot schools through Funda Afrika’s school transformation programme, which focuses on improving education quality in under-resourced communities. This partnership enhances infrastructure, provides teacher training, and equips classrooms with learning materials. UBS’s commitment empowers learners and educators alike, fostering long-term educational development and creating meaningful change in the lives of young South Africans.

Funda Afrika is excited to sharing the performances of the UBS STEP schools as below.

Diepsloot Secondary School performed exceptionally well from 2024 with a minor increase to attain 100%. While last year’s top performer Diepsloot Combined Secondary School fell marginally to 99,2% to second, while Blue Eagle has shown signs of year-on-year improvement to position three at 94,6%. Kwena Molapo Comprehensive School decreased by 5,3% to 92,3% at number four. Sunrise Secondary school too fell to 91,8% at number five in the supported schools.

Funda Afrika commends all the school who all this time performed above 90% collectively above the provincial and national which stand at 88,4% and 87,3% respectively. The STEP group stands at 95,22% with a marginal increase of 0.06% maintain the same standard as 2023.

School Performance 2023

The UBS STEP Schools slightly increased the overall performance in Mathematics slightly to 80,12% from 76,78% adding just 3,34%. Three of our schools namely Kwena Molapo, Blue Eagle, Sunrise Sec Schools increased their performances in the subject from the sixties to seventies. We note Diepsloot Combined drop of 14,7% but remaining at 87,7% followed by Diepsloot Sec 3 at stable 85,3%. The national pass rate increased too.

Funda Afrika commends Diepsloot Combined for 100% performance in Physical Sciences, maintaining the same outcome from 2023, while Diepsloot Sec 3 dropped by 2,2% landing at 94,7% from 96,6%, this trend is similar, Sunrise Sec who performed 5,4% less than in 2023 to 94,6%. While Blue Eagle went down by 2,6% but remained at 90,9% in the subject. Kwena Molapo had the highest drop of 18,8% to 78,3%. However, the total average sill remained at 91,7%.

Again, Funda Afrika commends Diepsloot Sec 3 and Sunrise Sec on attaining 100% in the subject, followed by Blue Eagle at 95,5% and Kwena Molapo at 78,3 a drop of 9,9%. The combined average is at 91,26% for Accounting.
